2025 ATP singles French Open betting tips week 2: Will Sinner win first Roland Garros title, or will Alcaraz retain?
The 2025 French Open is rolling into its second week, with four of the top five seeds in the Men’s Singles still in the tournament.
Top seed Jannik Sinner remains in contention and has been productive when on the court, as he seeks his maiden success on the famous red clay courts. Spaniard and second seed Carlos Alcaraz also still has a shot at retaining the title he won last year, although he has had to work hard to remain in the competition to this point.
However, could there be a dark horse that upsets both and crowned champion come Sunday, June 8?
Before heading over to one of the best betting sites for tennis, be sure to read our full guide on how to bet on the French Open.
The favourites
Unsurprisingly, the Spaniard and Italian have remained the heavy favourites to be the outright winner since the French Open early predictions were revealed with bookmakers like Betway. Current champion Alcaraz still holds the edge in the betting market over his rival, whom he defeated in last year’s semi-final before beating Alexander Zverev in the final.
When you look at his performances in the tournament so far, Alcaraz has definitely had to work hard to reach the last eight, where he will face 12th seed Tommy Paul for a place in the semi final against either Lorenzo Musetti or Francis Tiafoe. To get to this stage, Alcaraz has recorded the following results:
- First Round - 6-3 6-4 6-2 victory over Giulio Zeppieri
- Second Round - 6-1 4-6 6-1 6-2 victory over Fabian Marozsan
- Third Round - 6-1 6-3 4-6 6-4 win over Damir Dzumhur
- Fourth Round - 7-6 (10-8) 6-3 4-6 6-4 win over Ben Shelton (13)
With Alcaraz showing resilience when things have got tough, the 20-year-old is a popular outright bet, although his odds are pretty short at the moment.
Sinner might offer a little more value from some bookmakers, as the Italian is in good form heading into his fourth-round tie against Andrey Rublev (17), which is scheduled for this evening. Sinner has yet to drop a set in his first three matches, winning without really ever being in danger. His results so far have been:
- First Round - defeated Arthur Rinderknech 6-4 6-3 7-5
- Second Round - beat Richard Gasquet 6-3 6-0 6-4
- Third Round - defeated Jiri Lehecka 6-0 6-1 6-2
His match against Rublev will be interesting, as his opponent enters the match fresh after enjoying a walkover against Arthur Fils. The Russian will fancy himself, but if Sinner comes through this, expect his odds to shorten.
However, unlike Alcaraz, Sinner has never gone beyond the semi-finals of the French Open, and his clay game is not as strong as the Spaniard’s. He was also beaten on clay by Alcaraz in the final of the Italian Open recently.
Still, if you’re looking elsewhere at potential dark horses, the betting odds certainly provide value. We’ll discuss these in more detail, but Novak Djokovic’s odds are significantly longer than the pair already mentioned.
Elsewhere, Britain’s Jack Draper remains a potential candidate, as does Zverev, who reached last year’s final but has found it difficult to claim the winner’s prize when in Grand Slam competitions.

FIRST’s top tip for 2025 Men’s French Open
Given the form of Alcaraz on clay, it is very difficult to look beyond him. He has been tested (Sinner hasn’t) and has shown he can still be effective.
Pick: Alcaraz outright (10/11 at Ladbrokes)

Extra tips
We’ve been impressed with how Sinner has approached this tournament, given the three-month doping ban he had at the beginning of the year, following his success at the Australian Open. He won that competition and reached the final in the Italian Open before his defeat to the Spaniard. He may not be as strong as Alcaraz on clay, but he could be worth a punt (7/4 at Coral).

The value picks
The betting market truly widens away from the top two seeded players in the Men’s 2025 French Open, with Djokovic leading the rest of the pack. The Serbian is a perennial Grand Slam winner, having won 24 in his career. However, it’s easy to understand why he does not carry the type of odds you’d expect.
He has had a troubling time on clay throughout his career, having won just three French Opens (2016, 2021, 2023). At the same time, the 38-year-old has recently split with coach Andy Murray as he continues to struggle with form in 2025, as he has reached just two finals (winning the Geneva Open ahead of Roland Garros).
But in this year’s French Open, he is yet to drop a set, which makes him an interesting proposition ahead of his fourth-round clash with Cameron Norrie on Monday.
Draper is another player who could be worth considering, with the Brit coming into his own. He has been enjoying plenty of success on the courts, reaching the final on clay at the Madrid Open. He has dropped just two sets so far at Roland Garros, overcoming ties against Mattia Bellucci, Gael Monfils, and João Fonseca to set up a clash against Alexander Bublik.
FIRST’s value pick for 2025 Men’s French Open
We like the value offered on Djokovic. Despite the uncertainty, he appears to have hit form and provides significant value.
Pick: Novak Djokovic (9/1 at Betway)

Also worth considering…
Lorenzo Musetti has been an intriguing watch in recent tournaments on clay, reaching the semi-finals in both the Madrid Open and Italian Open, beating quality opponents before losing out. He has been stellar during his first week at the French Open, dropping just two sets so far and defeating Holger Rune in the Fourth Round. He’s a dangerous outsider, and offers plenty of value.
Pick: Lorenzo Musetti (Each Way at 22/1 at 10Bet)
