Chelsea transfer latest: Simons, Mainoo & Jackson odds ahead of deadline

Chelsea are still in the market for new additions with a little over a week to go until the transfer window closes. Despite investing heavily in the squad this summer, the Blues are not quite done.

Alejandro Garnacho is expected to be a Chelsea player by the end of the summer window, while Xavi Simons is another set to follow the Argentine to west London. Kobbie Mainoo is another linked with a switch to Enzo Maresca’s side.

Despite interest from at home and abroad, the pair are reportedly keen on a move to the Club World Cup winners, though the club still need to balance the books.

We look at how the club’s comings and goings may look in the final days of the window, according to the UK’s best bookmakers.

Chelsea to face late competition for Simons?

Whether Chelsea need to add Xavi Simons to the books remains to be seen yet they are supposedly leading the race for the RB Leipzig star.

The Dutchman struck 10 times and provided an additional seven assists in the Bundesliga last season, this despite an injury-hit campaign that saw Simons feature in 25 of 34 league games.

With a return to the Champions League on the cards, Chelsea need bodies to bolster their strength in depth and the Blues are the current 2/9 favourites with Paddy Power to be Simons’ next club. That’s an 81.8% implied probability he’ll be a Chelsea player by the close of the transfer window.

However, Manchester City shouldn’t be discounted from the race for the Netherlands international, especially as rumours of Savinho’s exit continue to circulate. City are at 3/1 with Sky Bet to sign Simons, so are behind Chelsea in the pecking order for Simons. Meanwhile a move to former employers PSG is at 15/2 with Paddy Power.

Newcastle eye Jackson as Isak replacement?

Alexander Isak’s bombshell statement on Tuesday evening rocked Newcastle, who in turn are adamant the Swede won’t be leaving. Isak has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, the Reds keen to bolster their frontline despite the additions of Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz this summer.

Even so, the Magpies are eyeing up replacements for Isak, with Nicolas Jackson among those linked with a move to St. James’ Park. While Yoane Wissa remains the priority for Newcastle, Jackson is supposedly on the club’s radar.

Chelsea may not be in the market to sell the Senegal international but if the right offer comes in to help balance the books, then the 24-year-old will leave the club.

Newcastle are the 13/8 favourites with bet365 to be Jackson’s next club, and with a potential cash influx should the do sell Isak, the Magpies could afford to match Chelsea’s valuation of the forward.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, are at 3/1 with Sky Bet to sign Jackson, though the Blues may opt to sell Jackson abroad, with a switch to Napoli currently at 6/1 with bet365.

Chelsea to make late swoop for Mainoo?

An unused sub in Manchester United’s 1-0 opening weekend loss to Arsenal, Kobbie Mainoo may yet leave Old Trafford before the transfer window slams shut.

With United pushing to sign another central midfielder – they have been linked with Carlos Baleba – they can free up some funds should they opt to cash in on Mainoo.

The England international has previously cropped up on Chelsea’s radar and while Garnacho is the United player the Blues want; they could just make a double swoop to bolster their midfield. At the time of writing, Chelsea are at 4/1 with BetVictor to be Mainoo’s next club.

With that, a switch to any Italian side is currently the 3/1 favourite for Mainoo on BetVictor. There’s also a chance United may use the youngster as a makeweight for any late swoop for Baleba, with a move to Brighton at 7/2 with Sky Bet.

Chelsea hardly need numbers in midfield following the signing of Dario Essugo and return of Andrey Santos after his successful loan spell with Strasbourg, but in what is expected to be a chaotic week, a move to the capital can’t be completely ruled out until the window shuts.
