Liverpool transfer latest: Isak Saga, Robertson exit odds & Elliott future revealed

Despite easing to the Premier League title last season, Liverpool don’t seem to be done in the transfer market. The defending champions are still looking to strengthen before the 1 September deadline, notably on the frontline.

The Alexander Isak saga continues to rumble on, adding needle to what will be a feisty affair between Liverpool and Newcastle at St. James’ Park on Monday night. A further push for Isak is expected, while the Merseyside outfit are also looking to make player sales to help balance the books.

Ben Doak recently departed for Bournemouth, while the high-profile additions of Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz from the Cherries and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively, may well spell the end of Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott’s time at the club.

We look at how the club’s comings and goings may look in the final days of the window, according to the UK’s best bookmakers.

After Alexander Isak’s eyebrow-raising statement in midweek, where he claimed ‘promises are broken’, Newcastle issued a rebuttal suggesting they won’t be selling the star striker this summer. With three years left to run on an existing six-year deal Isak signed, the Magpies are under no pressure to cash in on their prized forward.

As such, it’s not a surprise that Newcastle are the 8/11 favourites with bet365 to be Isak’s club after the transfer window closes. While they could use the funds raised to strengthen elsewhere and ease PSR concerns, Newcastle are keen to retain his services even as the striker pushes for a move to Anfield.

Even so, Liverpool are at 11/10 with Paddy Power to sign Isak, even with the attacking options at Arne Slot’s disposal. While they realistically need to prioritise elsewhere, the addition of Isak would take Liverpool’s forward line to the next level. The champions have seen one formal offer rejected in a transfer saga that could go to the wire.

Robbo to be forced out following Kerkez signing?

While every top tier side needs strength in depth, the addition of Milos Kerkez leaves Liverpool with three quality left-backs on the books. While Kostas Tsimikas is the reported favourite to leave, Andy Robertson is the one Liverpool should look to cash in on.

The Scot won’t be happy playing second fiddle for the Reds, especially in a World Cup year. And while he’s unlikely to miss out on the Scotland squad if they do travel to the US next summer, Robertson will want minutes under his belt. The 31-year-old has been linked with a move away, not only from Liverpool, but England as a whole.

A move to Atletico Madrid - who have sold Samuel Lino, Rodrigo Riquelme and Reinildo this summer - remains a possibility for Robertson, with the Spanish side at 4/9 with Sky Bet to be the left-back’s next club. A potential switch to any Saudi Pro League side is also on the cards, with a move to the Middle East currently at 6/1 with Ladbrokes, while the same bookies are offering 7/1 for Robbo to move to Aston Villa.

Wirtz signing to force Elliott out?

England’s U21 Euro triumph thrust Harvey Elliott back into the spotlight for all the right reasons. Elliott was instrumental in the Three Lions’ success and his performances saw the youngster shoot back to the forefront of supporters’ minds. Even so, the addition of Florian Wirtz suggests that 22-year-old, who registered just 360 minutes of Premier League game time last season, will find playing time even harder to come by in 2025/26.

A move abroad is possible for Elliott, with a switch to Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig currently at 10/11 with bet365. While a deal that takes him to Germany is unlikely to go through before their season opener against Bayern Munich on Friday, RBL may eye up Elliott as a replacement for Xavi Simons, the Dutchman tipped to move to Chelsea before the transfer window closes.

However, as Liverpool look to battle on numerous fronts this term, the Reds may instead prefer to retain Elliott’s services, even if the player is keen to move for greater playing time. Liverpool being Elliott’s club after the transfer window closes is currently at 11/4 with BetMGM, and there remains a chance he could stay in the Premier League, albeit away from Anfield, with Crystal Palace at 6/1 with bet365 and Tottenham at 11/1 with Sky Bet to sign the English midfielder.
