Martin Keighley is no stranger to success, especially at his local track, Cheltenham. Ed Quigley caught up with the Cotswold handler to get the latest plans on some of his leading lights in this stable tour.

Another Day Out

"She is a big, tough mare. She gallops and stays and won't mind a bit of rain. There is a race at Leicester for her on November 17 that I have pencilled in; she will be around top weight, but she is built to carry it, so I'm not worried about that."

Continuance

"He is quite a big, stuffy horse, and getting the condition off him was always going to be a challenge first-time out, and he ran accordingly at Plumpton. I was delighted with his run at Sandown over the weekend, where he was much straighter for that race. I thought we had a chance of winning as we turned into the home straight, but he did well to be second. I think he will take a step forward again, as he is still a bit keen in his races and still learning on the job - we shouldn't forget he is only four."

De Temps En Temps

"I have had some great days as a trainer, but for feeling, De Temps En Temps winning at Cheltenham with (my son) Freddie on board was next level. A few people had whispered in my ear that I was mad to let him keep the ride as he couldn't claim in the race, but I didn't want to break the partnership as he knew the horse well and won on him at Uttoxeter. He will run at Cheltenham this weekend - we will wait until nearer the time to decide which one, but there should be more improvement to come. It's exciting to have horses who can bring you those special days."

Duke Of Luckley

"We thought his runs were too bad to be true, so we sent him off for a full MOT, and it revealed he had plenty of stomach ulcers. We are getting that issue sorted and he can have a nice break now - we can bring him back in the spring. Southwell seems to be a happy hunting ground for him, so we will look for some races there for him once he is back on track."

Escaria Ten

"Obviously the Cross Country race at Cheltenham this November has been postponed so that has scuppered his immediate plans. He has been finding life tough in conventional handicaps, and it will be a case of keeping him ticking over until the Cross Country at Cheltenham next month."

Glance Of Glory

"He is still a big baby, and very raw - you can see that in the way he runs. When he won at Worcester for the first time, Sean (Bowen) said that the penny didn't really drop until the home straight, and he was having a big think about things. I would like to think he is better than 109, but as I said, he is still a big, unfurnished unit, so I won't rush him. In the spring, we will probably step him up to 3m."

Redbridge Rambler

"He is a bit in and out, but likes a stiff 3m on decent ground. At some point, the weather will turn, and we will leave him off throughout the depths of winter. He is only 1lb higher than when he last won, so it may be a case that we get him firing on all cylinders again with him, with a bit of sun on his back in the spring. It will be a weather-watch with him."

Springs A Girl

I think a lot of this mare, and she is one that I think we haven't seen the best of. We thought she would run a big race at Cheltenham last month, but she made a mess of the first fence and lost all her confidence afterwards. They went a million miles an hour down to the first fence and she was caught off guard more than anything. I will give her a spin over Hurdles to get her confidence back, and all being well she can then go Chasing again. She is capable of winning a nice pot."

Yes Indeed

I thought Yes Indeed was in desperate need of the run at Chepstow last month, and so it proved. That spin over hurdles will have really sharpened him, and he will go back over fences next time out. The ground is no bother to him really, he will go on anything."
