IMAGO: FIRST's tennis tipster Sam Hayes predicts Iga Swiatek to beat Liudmila Samsonova 2 sets to 1 today

The second week at Wimbledon may not have delivered as many shocks as the first - but there has been some spectacular tennis on display at SW19 in 2025.

In the men’s draw, pre-tournament favourites Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic remain in the hunt for glory, with some of the fringe operators on the ATP Tour in the mix too.

Love tennis? Find the best tennis betting sites and bet with welcome bonuses today.

Both Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka have enjoyed multiple Grand Slam successes in the women’s game but never at Wimbledon and they - along with the emerging Mirra Andreeva - look well placed to lift the women’s title this year.

A place in the last four at Wimbledon is on the line for all involved on Wednesday, and it promises to be another epic day of action at the All England Club.

Jannik Sinner vs Ben Shelton

World number one Jannik Sinner was by his own admission, very fortunate to progress to the quarter finals – having been firmly on the ropes against Grigor Dimitrov.

Fitness eventually eluded the Bulgarian and Sinner moves on, with the big serving Ben Shelton up next.

The American tenth seed has gone under the radar a touch at SW19 this year, but he has the tools to hurt anybody on his day.

First’s top tip for Sinner vs Shelton

Armed with one of the biggest serves on the tour, Shelton should keep Sinner on his toes throughout but as the match wears on, Sinner’s craft should come through.

Key moments will be definitive throughout and the opening set will dictate the tempo for the rest of the match.

Sinner looks to be in a good place to progress to the semi finals, but the first set could be mightily close, with it perhaps decided by a tie-break.

Pick: First set to be won a tie-break – 13/10 with BetMGM.

Iga Swiatek vs Liudmila Samsonova

Five-time Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek has been written off at Wimbledon on plenty of occasions, but she looks more at home than ever before on the surface in 2025.

Next up for the Pole is an intriguing meeting with Liudmila Samsonova, a player Swiatek has never lost to in four previous meetings.

However, there is plenty at stake in this one and Samsonova has a game that looks tailor-made for grass.

First’s top tip for Swiatek vs Samsonova

Progressing to a Wimbledon semi final would feel significant for Iga Swiatek and she looks well placed to do just that against Samsonova here.

Seeded 19th, Samsonova has overcome some decent opponents thus far and should be confident, but Swiatek will be fancying her chances of getting the job done – even if it goes the distance.

Pick: Iga Swiatek to win 2 sets to 1 – 5/2 with Mr Play.

Flavio Cobolli vs Novak Djokovic

Another player who suffered a scare in the previous round is Novak Djokovic, who looked lost for long periods against Alex de Minaur, before eventually finding a way to win.

He faces fiery Italian Flavio Cobolli next, who has picked up impressive wins over the likes of Jakub Mensik and Marin Cilic to reach his first Wimbledon quarter final.

The gulf in experience is huge in this one, but Cobolli has a decent game in his locker and Djokovic knows he is in for a game in this one.

First’s top tip for Cobolli vs Djokovic

Stages in world tennis seldom come bigger than a Wimbledon quarter-final, and Novak Djokovic is well-versed in the rigours of tennis at this level.

For Flavio Cobolli, this is new ground, and while the Italian has plenty of potential, he could feel the heat from the outset against the Serb.

Jannik Sinner or Ben Shelton awaits the winner of this one, and with Djokovic holding plenty of emotional attachment to Wimbledon, he will want a speedy win, to book his place in the last four efficiently.

Pick: Novak Djokovic to win 3 sets to 0 – 4/5 with Betway.

Previous matches - Wimbledon 2025 fourth round

Jannik Sinner vs Grigor Dimitrov. Pick: Jannik Sinner to win 3 sets to 0 – 11/10 with BetMGM.

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Belinda Bencic. Pick: Belinda Bencic to win the match – 7/4 with Betway. Landed.

Alex de Minaur vs Novak Djokovic. Pick: Novak Djokovic to win 3 sets to 1 – 2/1 with Mr Play. Landed.

Jannik Sinner vs Grigor Dimitrov

Despite not having too much to shout about on grass so far in his career, Jannik Sinner has looked completely at home at Wimbledon in 2025.

With just 17 games dropped in three routine wins, the world number one looks as if he means business at SW19 this time around.

Next up is a meeting with Grigor Dimitrov, with the Bulgarian last reaching the semi-finals here back in 2014 and it feels as if the gap between the two could be seismic here.

First’s top tip for Sinner vs Dimitrov

For all his poise, Dimitrov has struggled to compete with Sinner in most of their recent meetings, with the Italian last triumphing in straight sets at Roland Garros in 2024.

This will be a much sterner test for Sinner than his previous matches in the tournament, but he will be chasing a statement win, especially with Novak Djokovic in his half of the draw.

Sinner will be looking to get this one done quickly and his quality should come through, with a straight sets win.

Pick: Jannik Sinner to win 3 sets to 0 – 11/10 with BetMGM.

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Belinda Bencic

With world number one Aryna Sabalenka on the other side of the draw, plenty of women will be chasing a spot in the Wimbledon final in 2025.

The open nature of the draw presents an opportunity to both Ekaterina Alexandrova and Belinda Bencic, two hard hitters, who love the grass courts.

With four wins each from 8 career meetings, this one looks incredibly close on paper, and it will come down to who can keep their cool in the key moments.

First’s top tip for Alexandrova vs Bencic

Seeded 18th here at Wimbledon, Ekaterina Alexandrova has made serene progress to the last 16 but she is yet to face a test like Bencic.

The Swiss stalwart is returning to the tour after giving birth last year and she is match for absolutely anybody on her day.

Alexandrova hammered Bencic last month at Bad Homburg, but Bencic will be seeking revenge, and she could well find a way to win here, at a very good price.

Pick: Belinda Bencic to win the match – 7/4 with Betway.

Alex de Minaur vs Novak Djokovic

Another classic encounter concludes proceedings on Centre Court on Monday, as Australian Alex de Minaur seeks a big scalp against Novak Djokovic.

De Minaur is one of a heap of players on the fringes of the top 10 in the world and he knows he needs a statement win in a Grand Slam to take the next step in his career.

All this is old news to Novak Djokovic, who has won the lot but remains as motivated as ever to keep breaking new ground in the men’s game.

First’s top tip for De Minaur vs Djokovic

Stylistically, this could be an epic, with both players sure to relish the long rallies and embrace the endurance needed at this elite level.

For all his talents, de Minaur could perhaps lack the tools to hit through Djokovic and the Serb could camp in and make life very tough for the Australian.

Big game experience could be key in this one too and we’re backing Djokovic to chalk up another memorable Wimbledon win.

Pick: Novak Djokovic to win 3 sets to 1 – 2/1 with Mr Play.

Previous matches - Wimbledon 2025 third round

Ben Smith

Alex De Minaur vs August Holmgren - Pick: August Holmgren to win a set (11/10 Betway)

Barbora Krejcikova vs Emma NavarroPick: Emma Navarro -3.5 game handicap (Evens BetMGM)

Daria Kasatkina vs Liudmila SamsonovaPick: Liudmila Samsonova -3.5 game handicap (4/5 Betway)

Alex De Minaur vs August Holmgren

Danish qualifier August Holmgren arrived at Wimbledon with minimal grass-court experience, but he has far exceeded expectations by reaching the third round.

He’s already pulled off two notable upsets - first dispatching Quentin Halys in straight sets, then edging out Tomas Machac in a gruelling five-set thriller.

The 27-year-old late bloomer boasts a thunderous serve, which has been key to his success - holding over 90 per cent of his service games throughout his run, including the qualifying rounds.

FIRST’s top tip for De Minaur vs Holmgren

De Minaur dropped the opening set against Arthur Cazaux, another qualifier who unsettled the Aussie early on with aggressive, heavy hitting.

However, the higher-ranked De Minaur adapted well and ultimately came through, and he’s expected to do the same against Holmgren. That said, if the Dane continues to serve at a high level, he’s certainly capable of taking a set.

Pick: August Holmgren to win a set (11/10 Betway)

Barbora Krejcikova vs Emma Navarro

Defending champion Barbora Krejcikova is mounting a determined title defence, showing real grit in the face of adversity. She has played just eight matches all year, but the resilience and fighting spirit she’s displayed in each of her wins at SW19 deserve full admiration.

The Czech will need every ounce of that resolve, and likely more, in her round of 32 clash with Emma Navarro. The American, FIRST’s sneaky outsider pick in the pre-Championships preview, has breezed through the opening two rounds, dropping just seven games along the way.

Navarro has made a total of eight unforced errors across two tidy performances at the All England Club.

FIRST’s top tip for Krejcikova vs Navarro

Given Krejcikova’s limited form and fitness coming into the tournament, reaching the third round is a commendable achievement, but a clash with Navarro may prove a bridge too far.

The American has found her groove early and looks well-placed to advance with another convincing win.

Pick: Emma Navarro -3.5 game handicap (Evens BetMGM)

Daria Kasatkina vs Liudmila Samsonova

Former world number eight Daria Kasatkina has battled her way through two scrappy, error-strewn matches to reach this stage.

In contrast, Liudmila Samsonova has been far more assured - serving consistently and posing a real threat on return, making her performances a pleasure to watch.

The Russian made the fourth round at SW19 in 2021, and with Coco Gauff now out of the picture, her section of the draw has opened up to exploit the betting markets, presenting a real opportunity to go even deeper this time around.

FIRST’s top tip for Kasatkina vs Samsonova

Kasatkina came into Wimbledon on a four-match losing streak. While she’s picked up two wins against lower-ranked opponents, doubts remain about whether she’s playing at a level high enough to seriously challenge Samsonova right now.

Pick: Liudmila Samsonova -3.5 game handicap (4/5 Betway)

Oliver Tarvet vs Carlos Alcaraz - Pick: Carlos Alcaraz to win in straight sets - 4/7 (Mr.Play) Landed.

Emma Raducanu vs Marketa Vondrousova - Pick: Pick: Marketa Vondrousova to win in three sets - 6/4 (Mr.Play)

Emma Raducanu vs Marketa Vondrousova

Two former Grand Slam champions meet in this bumper clash on Centre Court, and both will be fancying their chances of going deep at Wimbledon this year.

Home hope Raducanu has never really hit her stride at SW19, but the talent is unquestionably there for the 2021 US Open champion, and she will be backed to the hilt by the patrons in this one.

It has been a curious two years for Vondrousova since her Wimbledon win in 2023, and she is now operating from a world ranking of 73 but her grass court prowess remains as strong as ever.

As the final match of the day on Centre, this could be a belter and both players should relish the occasion.

FIRST’s top tip for Raducanu vs Vondrousova

Emma Raducanu has been showing plenty of promise of late, but Marketa Vondrousova is a shrewd operator on grass. Back Vondrousova to win in three sets at 6/4 with Mr Play.

Pick: Marketa Vondrousova to win in three sets - 6/4 (Mr.Play)

Frances Tiafoe vs Cameron Norrie

Opening up proceedings on Court 1 is another box office clash, as Frances Tiafoe and Cameron Norrie lock horns for a place in the third round.

Coming into Wimbledon as the 12th seed, Tiafoe has developed into one of the most consistent performers on the ATP Tour, but his grass court record is patchy, and he bombed out early at Queen’s last month.

EXPLAINED: Betting on grand slams vs non-grand slams

By contrast, Norrie has endured a pretty tough 2025, plummeting down the rankings but he reached the last four here in 2022 and he will have home support on his side too.

Both of these players have been knocking on the door of the top 10 in the world at points in their careers and there is very little to split them on paper, with Tiafoe holding a narrow 2-1 lead in the head to head.

FIRST’s top tip for Tiafoe vs Norrie

There should be a partisan atmosphere on Court 1, with Cameron Norrie sure to have the crowd on board and if that lifts him, he could end up coming out on top here against Frances Tiafoe. Norrie is 5/4 to win this one with BetMGM.

Pick: Cameron Norrie to win the match - 5/4 (BetMGM)

Olga Danilovic vs Madison Keys

With seeds crashing out in the women’s draw again in 2025, any one of the remaining 64 players in the mix will fancy their chances of Wimbledon glory.

Current Australian Open title holder Madison Keys appears to have turned the corner mentally this year and her levels of consistency have only been matched by world number one Aryna Sabalenka this term.

Keys looks to have a game made for grass, but she knows she will be in for a seriously tough one here against Olga Danilovic.

The Serb is operating from a career-high ranking of 37 and she knows a good run here at Wimbledon could see her crack the top 20.

With both women possessing big serves and powerful groundstrokes, this could be a fast and furious encounter and the speedy grass courts at the All-England club should provide the perfect backdrop.

FIRST’s top tip for Danilovic vs Keys

Court 2 has a history of giant killings at Wimbledon and Danilovic will be looking to cause a serious upset in this one and Keys will need to bring her A-game.

Keys is a seasoned campaigner though and she should come through this test at 1/3 with ZetBet.

Pick: Madison Keys to win the match - 1/3 (Zetbet

Oliver Tarvet vs Carlos Alcaraz

British qualifier Oliver Tarvet continues to play out his dreams here at Wimbledon, as the American college student takes on two-time Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz next.

Tarvet made headlines in managing to reach the main draw at SW19, as his student status means he is only able to pocket a small proportion of any prize money won.

Playing against Alcaraz on Centre Court on Wednesday however could well be a priceless experience for the young Brit, and he will be relishing the opportunity to showcase his talents.

The form of Alcaraz in the summer of 2025 has been remarkable, winning the French Open in dramatic style and backing it up with a gritty title win at Queen’s, his self-belief looks impenetrable.

In his opening round match, he was given a real scare by Italian veteran Fabio Fognini but showed his resolve once more and he hasn’t lost a singles match here at Wimbledon since 2022.

The fairytale run for Tarvet surely has to come to an end at some point. While Alcaraz will surely be respectful of the young Brit’s run to the second round, he won’t be in the mood to give out concessions.

FIRST’s top tip for Tarvet vs Alcaraz

Centre Court will be doing all they can to engineer an upset in this one and Tarvet should play with a real sense of freedom.

However, with Alcaraz looking to conserve energy for the tournament ahead and after an epic in round one, he will be keen to get this one done quickly. Back Carlos Alcaraz to win in straight sets at 4/7 with Mr Play.

Pick: Carlos Alcaraz to win in straight sets - 4/7 (Mr.Play)
