Latest Wolves odds: Will Rob Edwards guide Wolves to safety?
Rob Edwards returned to Wolves over the international break. Having impressed during a brief stint as Middlesbrough boss, the Midlands side sought to bring the 42-year-old back to Molineux.
Admittedly, Boro fans will have been disappointed to see Edwards depart the Riverside. Middlesbrough are currently second in the Championship having ended a three-game winless run prior to the international break with a 2-1 victory over Birmingham.
However, the possibility of a return to Wolverhampton was too much to turn down for the Welshman.
He faces a tough ask as he looks to leave a lasting impression on his second stint at the Molineux helm after a brief spell as interim boss back in 2016. Wolves currently sit bottom of the Premier League with two points to their name, eight off safety, having failed to win any of their opening 11 matches.

Wolves vs Crystal Palace
Edwards oversees his first game as Wolves boss with the welcome of Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles have lost back-to-back away league matches, so it’s an opponent that may benefit Wolves.
That being said, the Midlands side have won only one of their last four home games against Palace.
This is the sort of game, though, that Wolves need to be claiming results in if they are to stay up. As things stand, Edwards to win on his Wolves debut is at 3/1 with BetMGM, while the draw is at 27/10 with bet365. Palace, meanwhile, are Evens on Ladbrokes to claim all the spoils.

Relegation
Failure to claim a result against Palace this week will hurt Wolves’ chances of staying up. While they have been in this position before – Wolves actually failed to win their opening 10 matches last season – the club were able to call upon Matheus Cunha on the frontline to drag them to safety.
Edwards doesn’t have the same luxury this time around, and that could prove an issue for Wolves as they look to stave off relegation.
At the time of writing, Wolves are at a best price of 1/7 with Boyle Sports to finish in the bottom three come May. What’s clear is that Edwards has his work cut out.

To stay up
While many are expecting Palace to claim a result at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, Wolves may well enjoy the famed ‘new manager bounce’ on home turf this weekend.
This is hardly new territory for Wolves, after all. Granted, they had actually won one of their opening 11 matches last season, and were four points better off.
However, a change in manager gave them the shot in the arm they so desperately needed. Over the following 27 matches, Wolves accumulated 36 points, and did enough to finish 14th over that period.
It is certainly doable, then, for Wolves to keep their head above water, and are at a best price of 11/2 with William Hill to stay up.

To finish bottom
Alternatively, Wolves fluff their lines against Palace, while results elsewhere don’t go their way. The gap between themselves and safety increases significantly, and they spiral out of control between now and the end of the season. Last season they had Cunha to call upon. This season, they look ill-equipped to beat the drop.
They’re seven points behind a revived Nottingham Forest in 19th, and while a new man at the helm may inspire confidence, Edwards has an incredibly tough task on his hands to guide the club to safety.
After Saturday’s Palace game, Wolves have a testing run of fixtures, where they take on a rejuvenated Manchester United – twice – Aston Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal before the year is out.
As such, it’s not against the realms of possibility that Wolves finish bottom this season, and are at a best price of 8/11 with William Hill to do so.
