FedEx St. Jude Championship betting tips: Scottie Scheffler the man to beat as the FedEx Cup Playoffs tees off
FedEx St. Jude Championship: Things to consider
The regular season on the PGA Tour ended last week at the Wyndham Championship. After the trophies were handed out at Sedgefield Country Club, all eyes are now on the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
The top 70 players in the rankings then progressing to the FedEx St. Jude Championship from TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.

Last week Cam Young (45/1 Spreadex) finally got the monkey off his back with a breakthrough win on the PGA Tour and he did it in style winning by six strokes in North Carolina at the Donald Ross designed club.
Now the FedEx Cup points tally for regular season events quadruples with 2,000 points going to the winners of the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the BMW Championship.
Players have already got their share of some bonus money based on their position in the standings after the Wyndham Championship. The top 100 and top 125 in the rankings will be wrapped up after the Fall Season. The purse for the FedEx St. Jude Championship is $20m (£15m).
St. Jude Championship: Top of the market
There's no Rory McIlroy in the St. Jude Championship market but he’s the only player not signed up from the 70 playoff qualifiers. Hideki Matsuyama (28/1 Betway) will defend the title he won a year ago at TPC Southwind on a total of 17-under par.
Scottie Scheffler (3/1 Spreadex) leads the market, and the reigning FedEx Cup Champ is once again the man to beat as he tops the FedEx Cup standings, over 1,000 points ahead of his nearest rival.
Sepp Straka (33/1 BetMGM) is seeing early money and currently sits third in the FedEx rankings. Xander Schauffele is widely available at 16s.
Justin Thomas is currently fifth in the FedEx Cup and third in the St. Jude Championship odds at a general 22/1, and he looks the obvious play from the top of the betting.
There may be a little bit of juice in that price for the man who won at TPC Southwind in 2020. Thomas owns a scoring average on the track of just over 68 strokes.
The American hasn’t teed it up since his two-week stint in the British Isles where he finished t22 in Scotland and t34 at the Open Championship.
Thomas is sixth in ‘strokes gained total’ and leads the tour in ‘birdie or better conversions’ ahead of what is typically a low scoring golf tournament.

Par breakers and a strong all-around game are generally required at a parklands style TPC Southwind that has been labelled a shot maker’s paradise.
Bermuda grass populates the rough and greens on a pristine par 70 layout measuring nearly 7,300 yards.
Viktor Hovland ticks most of the boxes and was recently third in the US Open. He finished t11 at the Scottish Open a few weeks ago.
He didn’t have a great Open Championship but his return to form is well documented. Hovland owns a beautiful progressive form line of 59-36-20-13-2 at TPC Southwind.
Hovland was tied for second with Xander Schauffele at the 2024 St. Jude Championship.
Sam Burns struck a round of 7-under par en route to a top five finish here last season. He was runner up back in 2021 too, losing out in a three-way playoff involving Abraham Ancer and Hideki Matsuyama.
That year Burns hit two rounds of 64 so he has shown a liking for the course. Burns has been in good form of late having finished in the top ten at the US Open and he was recently pipped in another playoff by Ryan Fox at the Canadian Open.
FIRST’s top tip for the St. Jude Championship
The each way market on Justin Thomas appears the standout price from the top end of the FedEx St. Jude Championship betting. Back Thomas to win the tournament at 20/1 (eight places) each way with Coral.

FedEx St. Jude Championship: Value bets
The roll of honour at TPC Southwind includes big names like Hideki Matsuyama, Will Zalatoris and major champion Lucas Glover (70/1 Spreadex) and there are a couple of players on the radar for me at bigger prices.
JJ Spaun could go well at 50/1 with BetMGM but I’ve opted for the following three players:
Ben Griffin has been flying low on the radar over the last month, but he has two previous visits to TPC Southwind, recording 24th and 50th place finishes to get accustomed to the course.
Griffin was 11th at Wyndham, returning to form with four rounds in the sixties and closing with a 65. The two-time winner this year ranks third in ‘total birdies’ and 11th in total strokes gained. He’s currently sixth in the FedEx Cup standings.
If we are talking about horses for courses, then there’s no better fit than Daniel Berger who has won at TPC Southwind twice and has a runner up and another top five finish to his name here. This season has marked a return to form for the American Ryder Cupper.
Since his appearance for the US side at Whistling Straits in 2021, Berger has suffered with ongoing injury troubles and hasn’t kicked on.

This year though he has recorded recent finishes of t3 at the RBC Heritage and t11 at the Truist Championship, both ‘signature events’ and Berger was also second in Phoenix earlier in the year.
A recent top 30 finish in the Open Championship maintains his form ahead of a return to a place he loves.
We can see some decent odds in the submarkets in reduced field events and one player I have my eye on is Nico Echavarria (150/1 BetMGM).
The Colombian recorded top 25s at the Scottish Open and the Wyndham and landed in 62nd spot in the FedEx rankings.
Echavarria won the Puerto Rico Open in 2023 and the ZOZO Championship in 2024. He just missed out on the Sony Open in 2025 losing a playoff to Nick Taylor.

Ben Griffin has won twice this season and is still being underrated by the market. Back Griffin at 33/1 each way (eight places) with Coral.

Nico Echavarria sneaked into the St. Jude Championship with a strong showing at Sedgefield.
He looks decent value in some alternative markets, available at 9/1 for a top 10 finish and 80/1 (six places) each way in the first-round leader market with BetMGM.
