ATP World Tour Finals 2025 tips and predictions: Fritz in the mix in Turin?

IMAGO Taylor Fritz could be the darkhorse to back in Turin and topple the big two.
IMAGO Taylor Fritz could be the darkhorse to back in Turin and topple the big two.

2025 has been one of the most memorable ATP tour campaigns in recent times, with the duopoly of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner continuing to reign supreme.

The pair have shared all four Grand Slam titles on offer this term and with a battle royale between the two for the world number one ranking, it has been a season for the ages.

As Alcaraz and Sinner have stretched away from the chasing pack, potential challengers to the duo have faded out of the limelight.

However, the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals pits the top eight players in the world against each other, in what has become one of the biggest events on the calendar.

Now held in Turin, the event begins as two round robins featuring four players, with the top two in each group progressing to the semi-finals and then the final on Sunday 16th November 2025.

Sinner and Alcaraz have had their spot in the event booked for months but some of the biggest names in the game have been jostling for position in the final eight over the final stretches of the season.

The stakes are sky high here and the quality of tennis on display should be supreme, making for a fascinating prospect in Piedmont where in-play betting could be a serious consideration during the week.

ATP World Tour Finals - The favourites

There are no prizes for guessing who would be sitting at the top of the market and with Sinner and Alcaraz sure to avoid each other until the semi-finals, plenty of money has been coming in for the pair.

Sinner won this event last year, clinching his maiden World Tour Finals crown and he came into this one in fine fettle.

While this isn’t a grand slam in name, it’s the creme de la creme of the ATP Tour battling it out and will have a feeling of playing in one of the most elite tournaments in the world which will have a big effect on your betting strategies.

Alarm bells were ringing after he retired early from the Shanghai Masters last month, but he has bounced back with a bang.

He clinched the lucrative Six Kings title in Saudi Arabia before returning to the bread and butter of the ATP Tour in winning the titles in Vienna and Paris.

Indoor hard courts may well be the quickest surfaces on the tour, despite claims from some in the game that courts are being slowed down and they appear to fit Sinner’s game perfectly.

The Italian will also have plenty of home support roaring him on here and he does feel to have the momentum with him at this late point in the season.

The Alcaraz effect

It was Britain’s Cameron Norrie that ended Alcaraz’s hopes in Paris last week, but the Spaniard will be eager to make amends here in Turin.

For all the success he has enjoyed in recent seasons, the ATP World Tour Finals is a tournament he is yet to win and how he would love to end the 2025 season on a high.

He has the game to win on any surface, and he tends to raise his game when it matters most, making him a very dangerous prospect in this eight player draw.

Extra motivation for Alcaraz (and Sinner for that matter) will be the race to finish 2025 at the top of the world rankings and with only 250 points between the pair, each match looks set to have a bearing on that result here in Turin.

All eyes will be on the pair, with tournament organisers sure to be dreaming of a final showpiece but they both know they will need to be at their best to prevail here at the ATP World Tour Finals.

ATP World Tour Finals - The challengers

Seldom has there been such a divide between the top two and the chasing pack in world tennis and the other six players in the draw will be doing all they can to force their way into the mix.

Alexander Zverev has endured another frustrating campaign, where the gap between him and the top two has widened but the world number three knows what it takes to win this event.

The German prevailed in both 2018 and 2021, and he has been showing a few signs of returning to his best form in recent weeks.

Like Sinner, the indoor hard courts tend to bring out the best in him and if he can serve well, he shouldn’t be too far away.

Another player who will be looking to get plenty out of their serve is Taylor Fritz, with the American looking to go one better after reaching the final in Turin in 2024.

Form may be patchy for the 28-year-old but there is no doubting his danger, particularly with him being guaranteed three matches in Turin this week due to the round robin format.

Arguably the forgotten man in this stellar line up is Novak Djokovic, with the Serb chasing a record eighth ATP World Tour finals crown.

It has been a frustrating campaign for Djokovic, who has suffered with niggling injuries, but he does look to have had one eye on this event for the last few weeks, having pulled out of the Paris Masters last month.

Elsewhere, claims can be made for debutant Ben Shelton and reliable Australian Alex de Minaur, two men who look to be at the very top of their games and who certainly have the tools to trouble those above them in the rankings.

Meanwhile Lorenzo Musetti looks best placed to pinch the last available spot – with the Italian opting to play in Greece this week to secure his top eight place, at the expense of injured Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.

ATP World Tour Finals - Value tips

Taylor Fritz to reach the final – 5/1 – (Mr.Play)

American Taylor Fritz produced some magical tennis in Turin last year, before coming unstuck in the final against Jannik Sinner. He looks set to avoid either one of Alcaraz or Sinner in the round robin and if he gets his eye in, who knows how far he can go.

Novak Djokovic to reach the last 4 – 5/2 – (BetMGM)

A lot will depend on the draw for Novak Djokovic this week, but the Serb is more than capable of upping his game when it matters. He will look to take time away from his opponents here and he could sneak under the radar somewhat.

Jannik Sinner to win the ATP World Tour Finals – 6/4 – (Betway)

The form of Jannik Sinner has been imperious over the past few weeks, as exemplified by his wins in Vienna and Paris. If he can replicate that, he should be in pole position to win his second consecutive ATP World Tour Finals and finish 2025 on top of the world.
