Brighton betting statistics - 2024/25
Last June, Brighton made history by appointing the Premier League’s youngest ever permanent manager. Fabian Hurzeler worked wonders to guide St. Pauli to the Bundesliga and his work in Germany didn’t go unnoticed. Indeed, the Seagulls saw enough to bring the German manager to the AMEX to replace Roberto De Zerbi.
The Texas-born youngster did extremely well to oversee an eighth-place finish and provide a solid foundation to build upon. So often, Brighton have made big strides only to see their manager lured to pastures new. Yet with Hurzeler remaining on the south coast, supporters are hoping to see the Seagulls soar next season.

Goals, shots and dribbles
Team | Goals |
Liverpool | 86 |
Man City | 72 |
Arsenal | 69 |
Newcastle | 68 |
Brighton | 66 |
After their relative goal issues the previous season, Hurzeler worked wonders as Brighton rediscovered their goalscoring touch. At 66 goals, they ranked joint-fifth in the Premier League last season; that return was higher than any other team outside of the top five, and the second most by the south coast side in a Premier League campaign.
Team | Shots on target per game |
Liverpool | 6.1 |
Chelsea | 5.7 |
Man City | 5.7 |
Bournemouth | 5.3 |
Brighton | 5 |
They were certainly not shy in their efforts to put opponents to the sword. Not only did they rank fifth for goals scored, they did so for shots on target per game (5), having placed sixth for shots per game (14). A shot accuracy of 35.8%, meanwhile, was the seventh best in the division.
Team | Dribbles per game |
Man City | 9.9 |
West Ham | 9.1 |
Brighton | 8.9 |
Aston Villa | 8.6 |
Chelsea | 8.6 |
A key way Brighton did hurt opponents was their ability to ghost past markers, not only down the flanks but through the middle, too. Hurzeler’s side finished the season with the third most successful dribbles per game (8.9), with the likes of Kaoru Mitoma, Yankuba Minteh and Carlos Baleba all shining for the Seagulls.

Penalties, xG and set-pieces
Team | Penalties scored |
Liverpool | 9 |
Brighton | 7 |
Bournemouth | 6 |
Newcastle | 5 |
Brentford | 5 |
While Brighton were not always on the receiving end of rough treatment from opponents, with 10.8 fouls won per game ranking eighth, they did maximise their chances from deadball situations. Only Liverpool (9) scored more penalties than Brighton (7) in England’s top tier last term.
Player | Penalties scored |
Mohamed Salah | 9 |
Justin Kluivert | 6 |
Joao Pedro | 5 |
Bryan Mbeumo | 5 |
Alexander Isak | 4 |
Crucial to their composure from 12 yards was new Chelsea signing Joao Pedro. No Brighton player scored more goals than Pedro (10) in the Premier League last season, while only Mohamed Salah (9) and Justin Kluivert (6) scored more penalties than the Brazilian (5) from the spot.
Team | xG per shot |
Brentford | 0.15 |
Liverpool | 0.14 |
Aston Villa | 0.14 |
Brighton | 0.13 |
Newcastle | 0.13 |
With the number of penalties scored, it’s no surprise that Brighton ranked joint-fourth for xG per shot (0.13) in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign. Penalties are one of the highest xG generators in football, and this helped Brighton finish the season as one of the highest scorers in the top-flight.
Team | Set-piece goals |
Nottingham Forest | 17 |
Aston Villa | 16 |
Crystal Palace | 16 |
Arsenal | 15 |
Brighton | 13 |
And it wasn’t just from penalties where Brighton were particularly effective. Hurzeler’s side finished the season with 13 set-piece goals, the fifth most, to go with the seven penalties they netted, with Brighton carving out 51 key passes from set-piece situations, that the eighth most in the league.

Shots conceded, errors, penalties conceded and tackles
Team | Shots conceded per game |
Man City | 9.3 |
Arsenal | 9.5 |
Liverpool | 10.2 |
Chelsea | 10.5 |
Man United | 10.9 |
Brighton | 11.2 |
Brighton weren’t exactly watertight at the back last season. They did, after all, concede the seventh most goals (59) in the division, even as they gave up the sixth fewest shots per game (11.2) in England’s top tier. Individual errors so often proved costly for Brighton, which needs to be worked upon this summer.
Team | Errors leading to goal |
Southampton | 19 |
Chelsea | 14 |
Ipswich | 14 |
Brighton | 13 |
Man United | 13 |
Only Southampton (19), Chelsea and Ipswich (both 14) committed more errors leading to an opposition goal than Brighton (13) in the Premier League last season. Of those 13, young Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen was responsible for five; no player made more in the division.
Team | Penalties conceded |
Brighton | 9 |
Southampton | 7 |
Wolves | 7 |
Ipswich | 6 |
Chelsea | 5 |
In addition to ranking high for errors, Brighton also conceded more penalties (9) than any other Premier League team. This points to inexperience in the Brighton squad, though that is to be expected from a side whose manager only turned 32 back in February. It’s a mental weakness that’ll be ironed out in time.
Team | Tackles per game |
Man United | 21.5 |
Wolves | 21.1 |
Crystal Palace | 20.2 |
Everton | 19.3 |
Leicester | 19.2 |
Brighton | 18.6 |
That’s not to say that Brighton didn’t try their hardest to protect Verbruggen’s goal as they ranked sixth for tackles per game (18.6). Rather, this again points to inexperience in this Brighton side, with Hurzeler’s squad one of the youngest in England’s top tier last term.
There are issues in the Brighton squad that do need addressing, notably in replacing Pedro on the frontline. Charalampos Kostoulas has arrived to swell the ranks, yet he’ll need time to adjust to English football. The signings of defenders Maxim De Cuyper, Diego Coppola and Oscar Boscagli suggest that Hurzeler identified a problem area in the squad that needed addressing, yet even so; a solid debut season sets Brighton up well for the coming campaign.
