Liverpool FC betting statistics 2024/25
Liverpool’s Premier League campaign ended with a whimper rather than a bang. Indeed, Arne Slot oversaw a four-game winless run to see out his debut season at the Anfield helm, not that the Dutchman would have minded. Liverpool’s dip came after they’d wrapped up the Premier League title with a convincing 5-1 win over Tottenham back in April.

Goals scored and expected goals (xG)
Few can argue that Liverpool were worthy winners. They capitalised expertly on Manchester City’s downturn to ultimately finish 10 points clear of their nearest challengers Arsenal having scored more goals (86) than any other team.
The Arsenal stats show that only the Gunners (34) conceded fewer than Slot’s side (41), though it’s worth noting that nine of those 41 shipped (22%) came in the four matches after they’d returned to their perch.
Team | Goals scored |
Liverpool | 86 |
Man City | 72 |
Arsenal | 69 |
Newcastle | 68 |
Brighton | 66 |
Any argument that the Reds didn’t deserve their title can easily be debunked with their impressive attacking performances. Slot’s side generated more xG (92.59), and even then they underperformed their xG by 7.59, so it could have been worse for the Premier League’s other 19 teams.
Team | xG generated |
Liverpool | 92.59 |
Man City | 73.63 |
Chelsea | 72.78 |
Arsenal | 71.66 |
Bournemouth | 70.37 |
Shots, passes and chances created
That shouldn’t come as a shock though. Liverpool, after all, ranked top for shots (17.1), key passes per game (13.4) and big chances created (112) in the Premier League last season, both metrics led, of course, by the irrepressible Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian King top for shots (130), key passes (89) and clear-cut chances created (27) for Slot’s side.
No prizes for guessing who scored more goals and provided more assists than any other player in the division…
Player | Shots |
Mohamed Salah | 130 |
Cole Palmer | 126 |

Counter attacks and goals conceded
The speed with which Liverpool attack also means they are able to hurt opponents quickly on the counter attack. They scored more counter-attacking goals (14) than any other team in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, seven of which (50%) were scored by Salah.
No wonder they, even at 32 years of age, eventually extended his stay at Anfield.
Team | Counter-attacking goals scored |
Liverpool | 14 |
Tottenham | 10 |
Arsenal | 9 |
Wolves | 8 |
Chelsea | 7 |
And Salah wasn’t the only key cog to this Liverpool machine that put pen to paper on a new deal on Merseyside. While Trent Alexander-Arnold has departed for Real Madrid, captain Virgil van Dijk remains at the club, and his new contract is key.
Not only did Liverpool concede the second fewest goals, they also conceded the third fewest shots per game (10.2), while their xG against (44.18) was also the second lowest.
Team | Goals conceded |
Arsenal | 34 |
Liverpool | 41 |
Chelsea | 43 |
Man City | 44 |
Everton | 44 |
Aerial wins and possession
Much of that was down to the solid rearguard showings of skipper Van Dijk, who ranked second for aerial wins (119), and 10th for clearances (190). A pillar of consistency, the towering Dutchman was also dribbled past just nine times in 37 appearances and returned a fine tackle success rate of 80.1%.

Team | Possession |
Man City | 61.6% |
Liverpool | 57.9% |
Arsenal | 57.1% |
Chelsea | 57.1% |
Tottenham | 54.8% |
As a collective, Liverpool were no slouches off the ball. A 57.9% possession return was the second highest in the Premier League last season, but even then they made 16.9 tackles per game, that in itself higher than Arsenal (15.7), Chelsea (15.5) and Manchester City's stats of 13.1. 7.9 interceptions per game was also more than the trio, while 11.3 fouls committed per game ranked among the top 10 teams.
They put in shifts off the ball, and weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty in their quest to defend their goal.

Interceptions and midfield possession
Ryan Gravenbech’s emergence as a key player in the Liverpool midfield aided in a solid rearguard campaign. Interest in Martin Zubimendi last summer showed that the Reds were interested in signing a new number 6 and a failure to sign the Spaniard could well have derailed their Premier League campaign. Gravenberch, though, stepped up to the plate, and then some.
Player | Interceptions |
Aaron Wan-Bissaka | 66 |
Antonee Robinson | 62 |
Ryan Gravenberch | 60 |
Jan Bednarek | 56 |
Virgil van Dijk | 56 |
The Dutchman won possession in the midfield third the fifth most times (107) in the Premier League last season, and made the third most interceptions (60) in the division, that return more than any other central midfielder. It was a metric Van Dijk (56) ranked joint-fourth for.
With midfield partner Alexis Mac Allister placing sixth for tackles (95) and ninth for fouls (62), the combative duo were instrumental in limiting opponents from creating chances on their way to the Premier League title.
Player | Poss. won in midfield 3rd |
Moises Caicedo | 130 |
Christian Norgaard | 112 |
Sandro Tonali | 109 |
Andre | 109 |
Ryan Gravenberch | 107 |
And crucially is that Liverpool are not resting on their laurels. England’s top team may have already lost Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, but they’ve landed Jeremie Frimpong as his replacement.
Milos Kerkez is expected to arrive from Bournemouth, while Florian Wirtz is set to follow Frimpong from Leverkusen to Liverpool. Factor in interest in a new striker and another central midfielder – Angelo Stiller is reportedly on the club’s radar – and Liverpool’s intentions for further domestic and continental dominance is clear to see.
